Scholarships

The Crown Point Community Foundation is the financial administrator of over 70 scholarship funds created by generous community donors. Scholarship criteria is chosen by the donor. The scholarship committee reviews all submitted applications and makes recommendations based on the criteria of each scholarship.

 

 Scholarship application will be available January 11, 2019

Scholarships for Adult Learners(21 and over) will be available starting in May 2019. 

 

Application Process

  1. Review the Scholarship List below.
  2. Use the filtering options to determine if you qualify for available scholarships
  3. Complete the online Scholarship Application.  One application to complete to be considered for available scholarships.
  4. The scholarship committee reviews all submitted applications and makes
    recommendations based on the criteria of each scholarship 
  5. All applicants are notified of their application status by email/mail

Alec Matalin Memorial "Dope" Scholarship Fund

Graduating High School Seniors

Crown Point High School graduating senior, minimum 3.0 GPA.  Essay required, explaining how the student has overcome adversity in life. Student has participated in either school related sports or recreational sports.  $2,500 non-renewable.

American Italian Benevolent Society Scholarship

Graduating High School Seniors | College Students

Lake or Porter County resident with Italian descent. Attending college, tradeschool, or technical school. 3.0 GPA. Amount varies.

Barney Family Scholarship

Graduating High School Seniors

Graduating senior from Lake, Porter, Jasper or Newton Counties in IN.  Minimum 3.0 GPA.  Attending an Indiana state sponsored college, university or technical school.  Family income between $80,000 and $150,000.  Must maintain a 2.75 GPA and full time student status in college every semester to receive additional semester scholarship payments.  Up to $5,000 per semester for 8 semesters.

Must be Crown Point resident, graduating senior, with a GPA of 2.5 or above. Scholarship is renewable for 3 years. $1,000 per year, renewable for 3 years.

College Students | Adult Learners

Crown Point High School graduate, completed the second semester in a program leading to a bachelor’s degree in speech and hearing pathology, optometry, or related fields, at an accredited college or university by the time the scholarship is to be paid.  Applicants enrolled in post grad degree programs in the indicated fields of study shall also be eligible.  Applicants must be enrolled as full time students.  Other selection criteria will be financial need, scholastic ability, character, leadership and integrity.  $1,000 non-renewable.

Crown Point resident, graduating senior, min 2.75 GPA, participated in CP Youth Baseball a minimum of 3 years AND through playing age of 12, attending college or vocational school. 2 $500.00 scholarships, non-renewable.

Two full 8 semester scholarships awarded. One to a Crown Point High School graduating senior girl, attending an IN state sponsored university, preferably majoring in nursing or medical field, 3.0 GPA. One to a Crown Point High School graduating senior boy, attending an IN state sponsored university, majoring in business, 3.0 GPA. Both need based.

College Students | Adult Learners

Resident of Lake County, Indiana at least 25 years old, enrolled at Indiana University Northwest. Recipient must be taking at least 2 courses per semester, minimum GPA 2.5 with preference given to a student with financial need. Cannot be in a graduate program. $500, non-renewable.

Resident of Lake County, IN, majoring in Horticulture, Landscape Architecture, Forestry, Botany, Plant Pathology, Agricultural Education, Entomology or other similar major that benefits consumer gardening.  Must be attending a 4 year accredited college/university that offers above majors.  Graduating High School students and college students already in one of the above programs can apply.  Awarded by the Lake County Master Gardeners Scholarship Committee.  Amount varies.
