Scholarship Applications ARE NOW OPEN

The Crown Point Community Foundation is the financial administrator of over 75 scholarship funds created by generous community donors. Scholarship criteria is chosen by the donor. The scholarship committee reviews all submitted applications and makes recommendations based on the criteria of each scholarship.

 

The 2022 Scholarship Applications are now Open.

Application Process

  1. Review the Scholarship List below.
  2. Use the filtering options to determine if you qualify for available scholarships.
  3. Complete the online General Scholarship Application if you are a graduating high school student or traditional college student.
  4. Complete the online Adult Learner Scholarship Application (non-traditional students, 21 and over) if you meet the criteria for any of the Adult Learner scholarships.
  5. The scholarship committee reviews all submitted applications and makes
    recommendations based on the criteria of each scholarship. 
  6. All applicants are notified of their application status by email/mail by May 15th.  All awards are paid to the school you are or will be attending.

Crown Point High School graduating senior, minimum 3.0 GPA.  Essay required, explaining how the student has overcome adversity in life. Student has also participated in either school related sports or recreational sports through high school.  $2,500 non-renewable.  Apply on the General Scholarship Application in January.

American Italian Benevolent Society Scholarship

Graduating High School Seniors | College Students

Lake or Porter County resident with Italian descent. Graduating High School or College students. Preference given to a student with family ties to the American Italian Benevolent Society of NWI. Attending college, tradeschool, or technical school. 3.0 GPA. Amount and number of scholarships varies.  Apply on the General Scholarship Application in January. Can re-apply yearly.

Barney Family Scholarship

Graduating High School Seniors

Graduating senior from Lake, Porter, Jasper or Newton Counties in IN.  Minimum 3.0 GPA.  Attending an Indiana state sponsored college, university or technical school.  Family income between $80,000 and $150,000.  Must maintain a 2.75 GPA and full time student status in college every semester to receive additional semester scholarship payments.  Up to $5,000 per semester for 8 semesters.  Apply on the General Scholarship Application in January.

Crown Point High School graduating senior, attended Wheeler Middle school all 3 yrs, 3.0GPA. Requires additional essay, explaining how they lived the principles taught at Col. Wheeler Middle School . $1,000 non-renewable.  Apply on the General Scholarship Application in January.

College Students | Adult Learners

Crown Point High School graduate, completed the second semester in a program leading to a bachelor’s degree in speech and hearing pathology, optometry, or related fields, at an accredited college or university by the time the scholarship is to be paid.  Applicants enrolled in post grad degree programs in the indicated fields of study shall also be eligible.  Applicants must be enrolled as full time students.  Other selection criteria will be financial need, scholastic ability, character, leadership and integrity.  $1,000 non-renewable.  Apply on the General Scholarship Application or Adult Learner Application in January.  (Apply on application which applies to your situation)

Crown Point Swim Club Alumni Scholarship

Graduating High School Seniors

Crown Point Swim Club member or alumni with at least 12 seasons (6 yrs) of verified participation.  Graduating student in Lake County, IN.  Majoring in Business, Science or Engineering at any accredited college or university.  Must maintain a 2.0 GPA to receive additional scholarship payments.  4 Year $20,000 Renewable Scholarship ($5,000 per year)  Apply on the General Scholarship Application in January.

Crown Point resident, graduating senior, min 2.75 GPA, participated in CP Cal Ripkin Baseball a minimum of 3 years AND through playing age of 12, attending college or vocational school. Amount and number of scholarships varies.  Apply on the General Scholarship Application in January.

Two full 8 semester scholarships awarded. One to a Crown Point High School graduating senior girl and one to a boy.  Must be attending an IN state sponsored university, preferably one student majoring in nursing or medical field, and one majoring in the business field, 3.0 GPA. Dorothy Dillman Max Scholarship Fund

Adult Learners

Resident of Lake County, Indiana at least 25 years old, enrolled at Indiana University Northwest. Recipient must be taking at least 2 courses per semester, minimum GPA 2.5 with preference given to a student with financial need. Cannot be in a graduate program. $1,000, non-renewable. Apply on the Adult Learner Scholarship Application in January.

Tri Kappa Scholarships for Women over the age of 21

College Students | Adult Learners

Non-renewable $1,000 scholarships to women who reside in Crown Point, Cedar Lake, Winfield or Lowell, pursuing an associates, bachelor or advanced degree at an accredited college, university or trade school.  Preference to applilcants who are community/civic minded. Can re-apply yearly. Number of scholarships varies from year to year. Starting in 2022, an additional scholarship will be awarded to a woman who is resuming her education after a gap of 3 or more years, with the same criteria as above.  This scholarship will be in memory of Sue Crisman and will be awarded as the Sue Crisman Memorial Scholarship, $1,000. Please apply on the 2022 Adult Learner Scholarship Application
